Ashanti Regional Director for the National Sports Authority, Kojo Appiah, has reiterated that his outfit will ensure the Baba Yara Stadium will be ready for use ahead of Asante Kotoko's CAF Champions League participation.

The stadium is currently not approved to host international matches by the Confederation of African Football [CAF] after an inspection in March.

CAF granted the stadium a one-match approval in March to host the Ghana-Nigeria World Cup playoff first leg but requested that authorities improve the stadium’s standard before it could be fully accepted as a Category A venue.

The work is still not finished, and there are reports that Kotoko will have to play their Champions League games in Cape Coast.

“It’s surprising to hear that Baba Yara Sports Stadium cannot host Kotoko’s African campaign because such information would have been communicated first to the NSA or GFA," Appiah told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

We are currently working consistently on meeting CAF requirements. By the end of August, we should be done with it,” he added.

He urged supporters of the Kumasi-based club to be calm and asked Kotoko to appeal to CAF for an inspection to be conducted on the facility.

Kotoko will begin their campaign in September with a preliminary round tie against Burkinabe champions Rail Club de Kadiogo.
