Tennis Ghanaian Duo Win Silver At The J5 Itf Open, Kenya

Ghana’s Desmond Ayaaba who is currently the tournament No.1 seed and his doubles partner Ishmael Nii Dowouna failed in their bid to claim the J5 Nairobi Junior Open title in Kenya.

The Ghanaian pair lost to Egypt’s Aly El Rafie and Serbia’s Nikola Jovic 7-6(5),6-3,10-7. The team settled for silver in the boys 18 and under category.

After losing the first set on tie-break 7-6 (5), the pair fought back to win the second set 6-3, the Ghanaian duo maintained their composure and won the set with two breaks.

In the final set, the team lost focus as they lost 7-10 to their opponent.

Speaking to ghanatennis.org Ishmael said, it wasn’t easy for us, but overall, we are happy with the performance, though our target was to win gold in the doubles, we are excited we won silver’.
