SWAG names International Sports Journalist Day after Nestle

Accra, May 5, GNA- The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) says this year's International Day of the Sports Journalist which falls on July 2 would be known as the Milo-SWAG International Day of the Journalist.

Mr. Ebo Quansah, President of the Association announced this when Nestle Ghana Limited, producers of Milo Food Drinks presented a cheque for 35 million cedis to S WAG as their contribution towards the prestigious annual SWAG Awards ceremony billed for the Prepeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on Saturday.

Milo is the official sponsors of the maiden Best Young Sports Journalist of the Year Award to be out-doored during the one-day celebration.

Mr. Quansah underscored the positive influence of Nestl=E9's contribution in motivating the award winners in 30-year history of the event, which for the first time, has the Asantehene, a traditional ruler as the guest of honour.

He assured Nestle of SWAG's commitment to promoting sports in the country.

Mr. Colin Taylor, Marketing Director of Nestle was appreciative of the cooperation his outfit receives from SWAG, pledging a long time commitment by Nestle' in promoting sports in the country. He said Milo believed that excellence on the field must be matched with the way sports is reported, hence their idea in awarding the journalist in the July celebration.

He expressed his conviction that the returns on their investment would be worthwhile.
