League Report Lions hold Faisal
APR 27, 2005 LISTEN

Kpando, (V/R), April 27, GNA - Kumasi King Faisal on Wednesday played a determined game to hold Kpando Heart of Lions to a 1-1 drawn game in the outstanding GT Premier league match at the Kpando sports stadium. It was Lions who scored the first goal of the match in the 31st through Joseph Masiru against the run of play when the visitors were in total control of the game.

The pressure, which was so much on the home side suddenly changed when the striker picked the ball outside the centre circle and raced past two defenders before beating on-rushing keeper Suraj Mohammed in goal for Faisal.

Just as the game commenced, it was Faisal who nearly went ahead in the very first minute but they lost the chance when their deadly striker, Eric Gawu fumbled in front of the Lions goalie, Mozart Adjetey to miss the chance.

The match was nearly marred when Faisal's Chairman, Alhaji Gruzah assaulted a Lions supporter by poking his finger into the supporter's eye ad he had to be rushed to the hospital.

Alhaji Gruzah continued with his acts by threatening and insulting the referee, Alex Kotey from the touchline.

The second half saw Faisal completely dominating play and it came as no surprise when they got the equaliser in the 52nd minute through Kwabena Poku, who beat an off-side trap and struck the ball beyond the reach of keeper Adjetey.

Faisal continued to pile on the pressure on Lions but they failed to utilise the chances that came their way to clinch the winning goal until the end of proceedings.
