The Black Starlets of Ghana have missed out on winning the 2022 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship after failing to advance past the semi-finals of the tournament.

The Starlets on Tuesday evening locked horns with their counterparts from Burkina Faso in the second semi-final game of the championship.

In a game that proved tough for both sides, Ghana, unfortunately, fell short at the end of the 90 minutes.

The host nation conceded a penalty in the 64th minute which was expertly dispatched by top marksman Ousamane Camara.

Despite the spirited efforts from the Black Starlets after going behind, the team could not find the needed breakthrough and has been forced to settle for the disappointing defeat to Burkina Faso.

Ghana must now prepare to face Ivory Coast in the third-place match on Friday to fight for bronze.

Sadly, a win in that game will not even secure Ghana a qualification to the 2022 Africa Youth Championship in Algeria.

Meanwhile, Nigeria is set to lock horns with Burkina Faso in the final of the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
