Match fixing scandal: Inter Allies want GFA to reverse demotion verdict

Division One League side, Inter Allies Football Club want a complete reversal of the Ghana Football Association [GFA] Disciplinary Committee’s decision to demote the club to Division Two.

On Monday, Allies, along with Ashantigold, was handed the sanctions after being found guilty of match manipulation in a game played at the end of last season.

In the matchday 34 games staged at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, The Miners recorded a 7-0 win over Allies, with Allies center-back, Hashmin Musah scoring two own goals.

After the game, Musah said he deliberately scored the two goals to ruin a bet placed on the game.

Following the decision of the SC, the club has since appealed the decision and their lawyer Felix Nana Osei says the evidence against Inter Allies is not substantial.

“It is the contention of the club that the evidence that was used during the trial by the Disciplinary Committee, was not substantial enough to pin the club down per the charges that were levelled against us.

“So the basis of our appeal is that we want a complete reversal of the verdict that was handed against us,” he said.
