Sunyani (B/A) Sept. 23 GNA - Bofoakwa Tano on Thursday walloped visiting Berekum Arsenals Football Club 3-1 in their mid-week Premier League match at the Sunyani Coronation Park. Bofoakwa scored all their goals in the first half through Osei Boateng in the 19th minute with promising Eric Ansah adding the other two in the 29th and 45th minutes.

Arsenals goalkeeper, Emmanuel Mensah, contributed greatly to his team's downfall with a poor performance. The Berekum boys managed to get their consolation goal when they were awarded a penalty in injury time by referee Jeffery Amamoo of Cape Coast when substitute Ernest Osei Boakye was brought down by a defender as he moved threateningly towards Bofoakwa's goal area.

Hell nearly broke loose as soon as referee Amamoo pointed at the penalty spot as some supporters and players of Bofoakwa invading the pitch in protest against the decision.

Referee Amamoo who stood firm throughout the match flashed yellow cards against some of the offending players including Deedey Yahaya and Osei Boateng and refused to rescind his decision.

Arsenal made sure they converted the resultant kick after truncheon-wielding policemen on duty cleared the park of the "invaders". Supporters of the home team who appeared not to have taken the decision kightly rushed onto the pitch soon after the final whistle ostensibly to molest the referee but the police managed to shepherd him and his other assistant referees, Francis B. Arthur and Joseph Dawson-Amoah, also from Cape Coast to safety.
