Awutu-Efutu-Senya District emerge the over all champions

Agona Swedru, Aug. 18 GNA - The Awutu-Efutu-Senya District emerged the over-all champions with 22 points in the Central Region Basic Schools Sports Festival at Agona Swedru on Monday.

The Agona District took the second position with 30 points followed by Cape Coast District with 41 points, Assin District fourth with 57 points while Komenda-Edina-Eguafo came fifth with 61 points.

Gomoa and Upper Denkyira Districts tied for the sixth position with 68 points each followed by Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira at the seventh position with 71 points while Mfantseman District came ninth with 80 points.

Asikuma Odoben-Brakwa District placed 10th with 92 points with Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District following at the 11th position with 93 points with the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District carrying the lot at the last position with 96 points.

Mrs Justina Torjagbo, the Central Regional Director of education in her closing remarks appealed to both coaches and athletes to work hard to maintain their standards towards future competitions. At the end of the competition, 134 athletes were selected to represent the Region at the forthcoming National Sports Festival at Bolgatanga later this year.
