The Chairman said the Committee would be tasked do a thorough examination of the supporters expected to travel with the Ghanaian contingent to the month-long fiesta that commences in August.

Mr Baba told the GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday that the decision is aimed at selecting faithful and law-abiding supporters capable of lifting the flag of Ghana high during the Games.

The GOC according to him is working closely with Mr Abraham Boakye, popularly known a "One Man Supporter" and Dosca Travel and Tours to ensure that the right supporters are selected for the Athens Games.

He said the GOC and the two mentioned bodies are currently embarking on serious investigations that will provide detailed information on each applicant in their quest to guarantee their return without future embarrassment to the country.

Dosca Tours and Mr Boakye according to Mr Baba have been tasked to make the necessary flight, accommodations and ticketing bookings as part of the measure to ensure the comfort of the contingent and to give the athletes and sportsmen and women the moral support throughout the Games.

The GOC Chairman advised interested supporters to be cooperative during the vetting exercise adding, "We will not tolerate any unpleasant embarrassment from any group or persons". 23 June 04
