The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central Constituency, Patrick Yaw Boamah has called for the player selection into Black Stars to be investigated.

His comment comes after the team's early elimination from the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon.

However, the 47-year-old believes the approach of the Ghana Football Association in selecting players for the Black Stars is not prudent.

“Now, you must have a godfather to be invited into the national team no matter how talented you are,” Yaw Boamah claimed.

“That is why we need an inquiry into the selection process into our national teams. Why was Kudus absent from the national team? He chose to join Ajax in Portugal to prepare for the upcoming Champions League. Why was Jeffrey Schlupp absent? Why is Tariq Lamptey refusing to play for our national team? Why was Salisu Mohammed absent? There is a problem with player selection and that ought to be investigated by the managers of our football,” he suggested.

It will be recalled that Ghana Football Association boss, Kurt Okraku, a few months ago said in an interview that national team call-ups will not be left only in the hands of the head coach and therefore will go through scrutiny.
