World Cup 2022 World Cup: Consider appointing Kwesi Appiah for play-offs against Nigeria - Opoku Nti tells Ghana FA
JAN 28, 2022 LISTEN

Former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer [CEO], Samuel Opoku Nti has called on the Ghana Football Association [GFA] to reconsider appointing James Kwesi Appiah ahead of the 2022 World Cup play-offs against Nigeria.

The Black Stars will host the Super Eagles in the first leg with the two legs scheduled between March 23-29, 2022.

The senior national team is currently without a head coach following the sacking of Milovan Rajevac on Wednesday after Black Stars abysmal performance in Cameroon in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON].

And according to Opoku Nti, James Kwesi Appiah with his experience and knowledge about the current team will be the best candidate for the Black Stars job as the World Cup qualifiers approaches.

He explained that the Ghana FA should appoint a coach who has fair knowledge about the team, which Kwesi Appiah fits in perfectly.

“We need to bring Kwesi Appiah back because he has a rich history with the national team”, the former Ghana international told Accra based Happy FM.

“We need Kwesi Appiah for the Nigeria game after that we open in for applications”, he added.

Ghana are aiming to return to the global showpiece in Qatar later this year after missing out in 2018 in Russia.
