Football News WC qualifiers: NSA directs GFA to select either Baba Yara or Accra Sports Stadium for Ghana v Nigeria clash
JAN 25, 2022 LISTEN

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has written to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) asking that it chooses between the Accra Sports Stadium and the Baba Yara Stadium for the clash between Ghana and Nigeria in March.

The Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to lock horns in the playoff round of the African qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The first leg of what will be a two-legged encounter is scheduled to be staged in Ghana in late March.

Planning ahead of time, the NSA has informed the Ghana FA that the Cape Coast Stadium which has hosted most of the Black Stars’ games in recent years will not be available.

This is because the government plans on using the venue in March for this year's Independence Anniversary Celebration.

Stressing that the stadium will even be closed down in March, the NSA has told the GFA to select either the Baba Yara or Accra Sports Stadium for the upcoming crucial game.

“By this letter, the Ghana Football Association is accordingly informed of this decision and advised to resort to other venues preferably Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium respectively for the March, 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff qualifier between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria,” part of the NSA letter reads.
