JAN 24, 2022 LISTEN

Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Frederick Acheampong believes the Black Stars will cruise over Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana will face their bitterest rivals Super Eagles in the playoffs round.

The Black Stars have come under intense pressure following the horrendous performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon.

Despite the team's early elimination from the tournament, Mr Acheampong is confident the team has what it takes to beat Nigeria and make an impact in Qatar.

"We are playing Nigeria which will not come easy but I am confident of the chances of the Black Stars," he said after the playoffs draw.

"In 2006, the Black Stars exited the AFCON at the group phase but went to the World Cup in Germany and made Ghana and Africa proud.

"The team did not perform in Cameroon but I am confident the Black Stars will beat Nigeria and qualify for the World Cup. I am confident the team will make an impact in Qatar," he added.

Ghana will have home advantage first and both legs will be played between March 21 and 29 with the aggregate winners securing a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars will be hoping to return to the Mundial having missed out in Russia in 2018.
