Hearts of Oak are now seven points behind Asante Kotoko on the Ghana Premier League table after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Karela United on Saturday afternoon.
The points gap could even go up to 10 if Asante Kotoko are able to beat Medeama SC on Sunday.
The Phobians only lifted the Ghana Premier League title last season but are struggling to compete in the ongoing 2021/22 campaign.
Today at the CAM Park in Anyinase, Hearts of Oak played as a guest to Karela United hoping for a win to close the gap at the top.
Unfortunately, a late equalizer from Hamid Dufie in injury time of the second half handed Karela United 1-0 win to secure the maximum points.
Today’s defeat is a blow for Hearts of Oak with the team likely to drop from 7th on the league standings at the end of all matches scheduled to be played on matchday 14.
