Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has revealed he was not well but his teammates wanted him to feature against Morocco in their Group C opener of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON].
The Al-Sadd SC talisman is one of the many Ghana players that reported late to the training camp of the Black Stars in Doha, Qatar ahead of the tournament.
The 30-year-old who led the team in their defeat to the North African side speaking in a post-match interview, Andre disclosed that he was not in the best shape.
“I have not been feeling well for the past two days, but I wanted to play, my colleagues wanted me on the field so I did everything to be there, it's football and we are disappointed to concede in the last minute,” the Ghana captain said.
Ayew is expected to be fully fit on Friday, January 14, 2022, when Ghana takes on Gabon in the second game at the 2021 AFCON.
