Legon Cities FC have now lost as many as five matches in the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season following a 1-0 defeat to Accra Lions on Monday afternoon.
Nicknamed the Royals, the club coaches by experienced tactician Maxwell Konadu [also Black Stars assistant coach] have struggled to compete since the campaign commenced last year.
Today at the Accra Sports Stadium, Legon Cities FC hosted Accra Lions in a game serving as a matchday 11 encounter of the ongoing Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.
On the back of a goalless draw at the end of the first half, both teams returned from recess determined to fight to cruise to victory.
Fortunately for Accra Lions, the team’s efforts paid off as Hagan Frimpong equalized in the 52nd minute to steer the side to a narrow 1-0 victory against Legon Cities FC.
Thanks to the three points from today’s game, Accra Lions have climbed to 10th on the Ghana Premier League table with Legon Cities FC now in the relegation zone.
