Sanni Compete In Switzerland

One of the walkers of the members of the Visco Walking Club, Ahmed Tijani Sanni of the Ghana Armed Forces, Navy was in Switzerland over the weekend and has done a 20 km race in Yverdon (Switzerland) on Saturday the 2nd of August. According to Mr. Hans who is sponsoring Sanni said a field with walkers from 10 countries (Hungary, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Latvia and New Zealand and Ghana) he finished 13th with a time of 1.52.01. In total there were 75 walkers starting. Winners were Gyula Dudas (Hungary) and Zoltan Czukor (Hungary) who finished together in 1.33.07. Sanni had problems with acclimatisation. Sanni was awarded the prize for the most competitive walker in this competition.

Meanwhile,The ace walker Vincent Asumang of the Ghana National Fire Service and a Bronze medallist at the last All African Games held in South Africa in 1999,has returned home due to technical reasons. he said he would go back to Europe and UK to do his final preparations for the all African Games in October. He took the opportunity to thank Mr |Hans who assisted him during his preparation to qualify for the Sidney olympics and other diverse ways. he also appealled to the Ghana athletics association and the National Sports Council to at least send 3 walkers instead of one or two to the competition
