Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association [GFA] has described the South African Football Association [SAFA] as incompetent, adding that they know nothing about football as a sport.

His comment comes after the world football governing body thrown out SAFA's protest against Ghana following defeat in the final round of games of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

SAFA were demanding a replay of the game and punish Senegalese referee, Ndiaye Maguette for his decision to award Ghana a penalty in a protest lodged to FIFA.

But according to Mr Addo, the appeal sent to FIFA to nullify Ghana’s win over them in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers shows how incompetent they are as an association.

“The South African Football Association knows nothing in football and this case clearly shows how incompetent they are, they want to frustrate Ghana and we are focus about the Afcon and the FIFA World Cup playoff,” he told Kumasi based Light FM.

“The GFA and Ghanaians will be happy about this FIFA ruling against the South Africans and I believe this decision will silence them because they disrespected us and this decision will let them respect Ghanaians," he added.

Ghana are in Pot 2 alongside Egypt, Mali, Cameroon and DR Congo.

This means Ghana will likely draw one of Algeria, Senegal, Morocco, Nigeria or Tunisia in the final round.

The West African country are seeking to return to the global showpiece having missed out in the last edition hosted in Russia in 2018.
