Obuasi, July 23, GNA - Obuasi Goldfields on Wednesday mauled visiting Real Tamale United (RTU) by 4 goals to nil to erase the ghost that was haunting them after that 5-2 humiliation at the Kumasi Sports Stadium last Sunday.

It was enterprising Stephen Amo, who led the onslaught when he opened the floodgates in the 20th minute after capitalizing on a good chance during a boiling goalmouth action.

Determined to atone for their poor showing against King Faisal last Sunday, the miners kept the pressure on the visitors and nearly increased the tally in the 24th minute but Goldfields youthful goal poacher Shaibu Yakubu threw the chance away as his shot missed the target.

Ten minutes into the second half the miners scored the second goal when RTU defender Fatawu Seidu, in an attempt to clear a powerful free kick by Daniel Asamoah gave the miners a gift goal. From then on Goldfields brought on Cameroon import Valentine Atem, George Eraino and Awudu Alhassan for Owusu Agyeman, Daniel Nortey and Alfred Arthur in the 60th, 66th and 80th minutes respectively to beef up the attack.

Valentine's inclusion changed Goldfields game as his skills, ball control and distribution nearly fetched the third goal in the 86th minute but RTU's goalkeeper Michael Abu fouled Eraino in the process to give Valentine his first spot kick goal. On the stroke of full time, Shaibu sealed the doom of the visitors when, after collecting a pass from Valentine, rounded two defenders before displacing goalkeeper Abu for the fourth goal of the match and the miners heavy win in the Kinarphama Premier League.
