Dodoo wins Geodrill Squash trophy

Accra, July 21, GNA--Dimpson Dodoo of J.W.B. Squash Club of Accra beat Kenneth Effah of Obuasi Squash Club in three straight games in the finals to win the Third Annual Geodrill Limited Open Squash Championship played in Accra on Sunday.

Dodoo scored 15-5, 15-8 and 15-9 to lift the trophy for the first time after two attempts.

On their way to the finals, Dodoo edged out Edem Yaw of Tesan Club 3-0 and accounted for Victor Ablevi also of Tesano Club 3-0 while Effah defeated Ernest Anafo of Burma Camp 3-0 and Peter Danso of Tesano Club by the same score line.

For their prizes, Dodoo had two million cedis cash a trophy and would represent Ghana in the Professional Squash Association competition scheduled for London later in the year while Effah had a trophy and a cash of 1.5 million cedis. Dan Husu of Gold House Club took the third position by beating Fiifi Aidoo of Tesano Club 3-0. The two-day event which was sponsored by Geodrill Ghana Limited was aimed at whipping up enthusiasm into the game. Mr Dave Harper, Managing Director of Geodrill Limited called on the youth to actively participate in the game.
