Chess competition opens on Saturday

The Ghana Chess Association and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) is inviting all chess players in the country to a one-day open knock-out Chess competition on Saturday, June 14.

A statement signed by Edward Nii Lamptey Okunka Thompson, tournament director and copied to GNA Sports said the event would take place at the Dubois Memorial Centre, near the Ghana International School at 8.30 a.m. prompt.

It explained that the tournament forms part of the World Refugees Day cerebration which falls on Friday, June 20 and advised participants to bring along their Chess sets and clocks.

The statement said 10,000 cedis registration fee would be charged for the competition which has attractive prizes donated by the UNHCR.
