NSC to document achievements of past sports personalities

The National Sports Council (NSC) has released the names of 31 sports personalities to be featured in the NSC quarterly journal which takes off in July.

A statement signed by Charles Aryeh, Head of Public Relations Unit of the NSC said information on the sports personalities would be compiled in a book entitled "Profile of sports heroes" and would be kept in the council's library for reference by posterity.

The statement mentioned the names of the following sports personalities as the first batch of people to be featured in the first edition of the book. They are E.C. Briangt, James Adjei, Tim Darbah, Addo Adametey, Dodoo Ankrah, Lamptey Mills, Baba Yara, E. Aggrey-Fyn, and C.K. Gyamfi all past footballers. Eddie Blay, Ike Quartey Snr, Roy Ankrah, and D. K. Poison are the boxers outlined while Mike Ahey, J.A. Addy, A.O. Lawson, Robert Kotey, E. Adjin Tetteh, Alice Anum, Christiana Boateng, Rose Hart and Grace Laing are among the athletes to be featured in the book.

The Sports administrators are Richard Akwei, Ohene Djan and W. Marbel, while E.A. Acquaye and D.J. Hathiramani have been slated fore table tennis with Odartey Annan, K.N. Owusu and Major George Lamptey for tennis, hockey and refereeing respectively.

The statement called on the sports personalities mentioned or their relatives to submit to the public relations unit of the NSC, information and pictures of their activities in sports.
