Mouganie wins Barclays Regional Open Golf

George Mouganie, Managing Director of Prima Wood Company Limited, scored 39 stableford points to win the 37th edition of the Barclays Bank Open Golf competition at the Kumasi Golf Course on Saturday.

Kojo Barnni followed at the second position with a score of 38 stableford points while Francis Owusu-Ansah took the third position on count back with 36 stableford points beating Sam Okyere to the fourth position also with 36 stableford points.

Two contestants, Basel Hage and Ron Platt scored 34 stableford points apiece but Hage beat Platt to the sixth position on count back to take the fifth position while Y.B. Okyere came seventh with 33 stableford points beating P.A. Mensah to the eighth position also with 33 stableford points on count back.

Paul Ahun came ninth also with 33 stableford points and Dr Sam Nixon took the 10th position with 32 stableford points.

In the ladies event, Mrs Hertha Muller took the first position with 37 stableford points and was followed at the second position by Mrs Rashida Khalil with 33 stableford points.

Mercy Ampofo placed third with 33 stableford points beaten on count back while Mrs Tanaporn Spence alias "Aben Wo Ha", came fourth with 31 stableford points with Nelly Hage placing fifth with 29 stableford points beaten on count back.

Mr Nick Akunor, Senior Corporate Manager of the bank, traced the involvement of the bank in the competition since its inception in 1963.

He said the bank very much cherished its involvement in the competition since it afforded them the opportunity to interact with some customers.

Mr Akunor presented 10 million cedis to the club and pledged the bank's continued support of the club's activities.

Mr Prince Adu Agyemang, Captain of Kumasi Golf Club, who received the cheque on behalf of the club, expressed appreciation to the bank for its continued support and said the club greatly cherished the gesture.
