Budget Cash and Carry donates to SWAG

Budget Cash and Carry, producers of Blue Jeans Energy drinks, has made a donation of 10 million cedis and drinks worth five million cedis to the Sports' Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) towards the 27th edition of its awards night.

Nana Joseph Kweku Aggrey, Africa and U.K Representative of the company said the donation is aimed at promoting sports in the country and in appreciation to the efforts of sportsmen and Sportswomen in the country.

He said the company is interested in the development of the youth through sports adding that the abundant talent on the street must be tapped for the benefit of the country.

Nana Aggrey said the company is planning to organise sports festivals for street children to unearth talents, who would be handed over to the National Sports Council (NSC) for harness.

The Africa and UK Representative described the youth of Ghana as enthusiastic and must be encouraged to develop their talent especially in sports, since the nation is capable of gaining a lot of recognition from other parts of the world.

Mr. Emmanuel Amoako General Secretary of the association who received the items said the donation would encourage award winners in the country.

He urged the company to continue to help the association in all its endeavours.

Twenty sports personalities including Samuel Osei Kuffour of Bayern Munich fame as both the Sportsman and Footballer of the Year. Four other organisations - VALCO, Cowbell, Ghana Telecom and Despite Promotions - would also be honoured for their contribution towards sports development in the country.
