The Black Queens of Ghana on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, lost 2-0 to the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the end of a clash in the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers.

Known as rivals from the past, the two West African giants are facing off in the playoffs to next year’s women’s championship that will be organised by CAF.

Although both national teams would have wished for a different opponents, they have accepted the challenge and looking to secure the needed win over the two legs to guarantee a place in the 2022 AWCON.

Today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Nigeria’s Super Falcons hosted the Black Queens of Ghana in the first of the two matches.

Even though the visitors put up a strong performance, they were no match for the hosts.

As a result, the Super Falcons cruised to a deserved 2-0 win at the end of the contest courtesy of a brace from strike Uchenna Kanu.

Ghana’s Black Stars after today’s game trail on aggregate and must beat the opponent by a bigger margin on Sunday to merit a place at the 2022 AWCON.
