Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko pushed to record a first pre-season friendly win in Dubai on Sunday but didn’t quite manage to cross the finish line in a game against lower-tier outfit Liwa FC.
Last Thursday, the Porcupine Warriors club played their first pre-season friendly match in the United Arab Emirates in a game against Al-Hilal United.
Although the team played well especially in the second half, they suffered a narrow defeat at the end of the exercise.
Today, Asante Kotoko engaged Liwa FC in a second pre-season friendly match away from home with the goal of recording a win to boost the morale of players ahead of the start of the 2021/2021 Ghanaian football season later this month.
On the back of an impressive showing in the first half, the club led at the break courtesy of a goal from new signing Stephen Amankona.
Going on to miss a number of chances in the second half, Asante Kotoko allowed Liwa FC to score as the friendly match eventually ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
The Ghanaian club is expected to wrap up its pre-season training tour in Dubai in the coming week before returning to Ghana on October 22, 2021.
