Tema Country Golf Club beat their Achimota counterparts by 12 points to 9 in an inaugural match play, 'Green some,' between the two sister clubs at Achimota last Monday.

The match was arranged to commemorate the 42nd Republic anniversary of the country.

A reciprocal duel has been slated for Tema in December 2002 to coincide with Farmer's Day.

A magnificent trophy donated by Geoff Fisher, captain of Achimota Golf Club, was received by John Cobbina, captain of the victorious Tema side. He was assisted by two of his Committee members, INK Asempa and Esi Cobbina.

Vice captain of the host club, S.L. Adetola and John Cobbina of Tema were both happy that the idea mooted by Geoff Fisher has come to fruition.

They both supported the idea that it be widened to include Kumasi in the foreseeable future to create the maximum environment towards the promotion and development of the sport in the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mike M. Ezan, president of Ghana Golf Association has stepped aside for his deputy, Pro. M. Ben-George, as president.

The Tema Amateur Open scheduled for Tema next week 13-14 July, 2002 has been postponed indefinitely. A new date is to be announced, occording to the club captain.
