Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, Emmanuel Gyasi, and three other players have been dropped from the Ghana squad that will be facing Zimbabwe next weekend.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face the Warriors in a doubleheader encounter this month in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Although 32 players were call-up to the camp of the Ghana national team last month, the Ghana FA has announced today that the technical team has decided to excuse five of the players.

The players as announced on the website of GFA include Ismail Abdul Ganiyu, Tariqe Fosu Henry, Joseph Alfred Duncan, Mubarak Wakaso and Emmanuel Gyasi.

In addition to these five players, there is the possibility that defender Andy Yiadom may also be dropped.

He picked up a knock while in action for Reading FC in the English Championship over the weekend and hence needs to be assessed to ascertain whether he will recover in time for the Zimbabwe game or not.

The first of the two-legged meeting between Ghana and Zimbabwe will be played on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

The game will kick-off at 16:00GMT at the Cape Coast Stadium.
