Incoming Black Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac has been tasked by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to win the next edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Cameroon, and also qualify the country for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Joy Sports has reported.

The Serbian trainer is expected to be unveiled today by the country's football governing body.

Milovan will sign a two-year deal with a monthly salary of $45,000.

According to Joy Sports, the GFA has promised him a financial package of $300,000 to qualify the country to the mundial.

Milo's first task is to end Ghana’s 39 years Afcon trophy drought next year. The Black Stars are in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon, and Comoros.

If he navigates his way and wins the tournament, he will be rewarded with a $300,000 financial package.

If the 67-year-old achieves these targets, he will receive a combined $600,000 for meeting all the demands.

However, should Milo fails to achieve these targets, his contract will be terminated on September 19, 2022.

Milovan Rajevac’s first assignment will be against Zimbabwe next month in a 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast stadium.

Meanwhile, former Ghana international, John Paintsil in an interview with Accra based Angel FM believes Milovan will need a miracle to be able to secure World Cup qualification with the Black Stars.

“If it is true Milo is taking over the job then I say the timing is wrong because how well does he know this current team," he said.

“Our time was different because all the players were already made and it will only take a miracle to help him qualify this team,” the former defender added.

Milovan previously coached the Black Stars in 2008 and finished as runner-up at the Cup of Nations in 2010, also narrowly missing out on a semi-final place in the 2010 World Cup to Uruguay.

He left the Ghana job in September 2008 and subsequently joined Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia.

He left that job to take up the job of the coach to the Qatari national team in 2011.

He has since coached Slovenia’s Rudar Velenje, the Algerian national team and Thailand. He was the Thailand coach between 2017 and 2019.

Ghana is currently third in its group after winning one and losing another in the first two matches of the qualifiers.
