The Black Stars of Ghana are pumped up to host the Walia ibex of Ethiopia in the opening Group G encounter of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers today.

The two countries were pitted in the same group of the African qualifiers at the end of the draw together with South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Although many believe Ghana are the favourites in the group, it is very clear that the Black Stars will have to work to advance to the next stage of the qualifiers.

Later tonight, the journey in the qualifiers will officially start in a game scheduled to be played at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Since Tuesday, Ghana’s squad has been training for the game and wrapped up preparations with an intensified session on Thursday night.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Ethiopia game, Ghana captain Andre Ayew expressed the need to amass the maiden three points of the qualifiers.

According to him, that will help the team to gather momentum and fight for more points in the subsequent matches.

Today’s World Cup qualifier between Ghana and Ethiopia is scheduled to be played at the Cape Coast Stadium and will kick-off at 19:00GMT.

In the other Group G game, Zimbabwe is set to host South Africa to battle for three crucial points.
