This year's Asantehene Open Golf championship tees off at the Kumasi Golf Course from Friday, August 3 and ends on Sunday, August 5.

Mr Prince Agyemang, Captain of the Kumasi Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Sunday, said the three-day 36-hole scratch competition which will be played alongside Youth tournament for the first time, is being sponsored by Ghana Breweries Limited (GBL).

It is open to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country and it is expected to attract over 200 participants.

He said entry requirement for the amateur's event is handicap 14 and added that the youth should be at least 18 years as at July 30 for the Youth tournament.

The Professionals will engage in a three-day hectic54-hole competition beginning on Friday.

Mr Emmanuel K. Osei, Tema Open Champion, is among the participants who have registered for the competition.

He said he was determined to win the Otumfuo Gold Cup.

A flag raising ceremony, under the auspices of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will be held on Friday, August three.

Eight prizes will be awarded in the amateur's event; nine for the professionals while six will go to the juniors.
