Kwaku Amponsah, a former National Circles Chairman of Asante Kotoko has unequivocally reiterated that players of the club will suffer the wrath of the fans if they do not improve their game.

The record Ghana Premier League champions ended the 2020/21 football season trophyless.

Kotoko lost the Premier League race to the rivals, Hearts of Oak and exited the MTN FA Cup at the quarterfinal.

The Porcupine Warriors lost 4-5 on penalty shootout at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

With the club set to return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium next season, Kwaku Amponsah, who is known as Chairman K5 in football circles says the players will be cursed if they do not improve their performance next season.

"The team will return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium next season and I am cautioning the players to improve their performance," he told Kumasi based Pure FM.

"There are rumours that we the supporters want to curse the team which is not true but we will curse them in the future if the players do not improve their performance," he added.

Meanwhile, the head coach of the side, Mariano Barreto has called on the Ghana Football Association [GFA] to investigate their last match of the season.

“In the last match, some strange things happened. I have already said that these issues have to be investigated and punish those that have to be punished,” the Portuguese said, as quoted by Citisportsonline.

“This is to the board of Kotoko and these things should not happen. Kotoko is a big brand and one of the biggest clubs in Africa.

“What happened this season I hope never happens again to any player or coach,” he added.
