Hertha Berlin head trainer, Pal Dardai has disclosed the club tried to sign Kevin-Prince Boateng four years ago but he is finally happy he has joined the club.

The Ghana international joined the Bundesliga side on a one year deal after leaving Italian Serie B side, AC Monza.

However, Boateng has returned to the club where he started his career after 13 years.

Following his arrival at the club, Dardai has expressed his excitement for having the experienced forward saying they tried signing him four years ago.

"There is nothing better than a talent that leaves, succeeds and comes back,” Dardai said.

“When he was training here on his own four years ago, I said to the manager: Why don't we try to bring him back?

"That was not possible then. Now the moment has come.”

The 34-year-old has started pre-season and on his first day at training, he received a warm reception from playing body and fans who were allowed into the training facility.

“I know his physical condition, but we also always got older players fit,” Dardai added.

Boateng left Hertha 13 years ago and has represented many clubs including AC Milan, Fiorentina, Sassuolo, Barcelona, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund among other clubs.
