Asante Kotoko legend, Sarfo Gyamfi believes the sale of striker Kwame Poku will affect the chances of the club of winning the ongoing title.

The Porcupine Warriors cashed in on their top forward after releasing him to Algerian club, USM Algers three months ago.

Poku, who had scored seven goals prior to his departure, signed a long term deal with the Algerian club.

The 21-year-old’s exit left a gaping hole in Kotoko’s attack and Sarfo Gyamfi subscribes to the fact that the Porcupines allowed him to leave too quickly.

“The problem at the Black Stars is the same as one at Kotoko," he told Africa-foot.com.

“Kotoko’s problem is as a result of the sale of striker, Kwame Poku.

“The sale of Kwame Poku has cost Kotoko now and that’s why they are struggling for the league title.

“If Kwame Poku had not left, Kotoko would have won the league long ago," he added.

Kotoko currently sit 2nd on the league log with 53 points after 29 matches played.

Kwame Poku joined Kotoko from First Division club, Nkoranza Warriors and quickly settled down in the Kotoko squad.

He is expected to add life to USM Algers attacking machinery.
