2022 World Cup qualifiers: I am not scared playing Ghana - South Africa coach Hugo Broos

South Africa head coach, Hugo Broos has insisted that he is not worried about playing Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifying games.

The Bafana Bafana are in the same group with the Black Stars for the qualifiers.

After Ghana held South Africa to book their qualifications for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] in Johannesburg, the Belgian says the West African country is beatable.

With the qualifiers shifted to September from its original June schedule, Hugo Broos is confident of beating the Black Stars.

“I know Ghana very well, Zimbabwe is a dangerous opponent and Ethiopia," he said in an interview.

“I think Ethiopia was in the group of Egypt, every team can be beaten but its not a guarantee that because I know how to beat Ghana so we can beat Ghana again.

“Secondly we have to be ready for that and we have enough work to do to be ready for that.

“And we will see in September if South Africa will be ready to beat Ghana but why not?” Hugo Broos said.

Broos was appointed coach of Bafana Bafana following the exit of indigene, Molefi Ntseki.

The Belgian trainer has been tasked to qualify the Mzansi to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after Ntseki failed to book a place at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

South Africa are paired with Ghana, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe in Group G of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Broos won the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations title with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in Gabon.

He has been in charge of the likes of Club Brugge, Anderlecht, Genk (Belgium), Trabzonspor (Turkey) and JS Kabylie and NA Dey (Algeria).
