APR 11, 2021 LISTEN

Skillful winger, Jonah Attuquaye scored with a fine effort on Sunday afternoon to seal a delightful 2-0 win for Legon Cities FC against Great Olympics.

Nicknamed the Royals, the Legon-based club locked horns with their capital rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium today to fight for three points on matchday 19 of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

In a game where the first half did not see any goals despite the away team creating numerous chances, the home team returned from recess to earn the maximum points with a top performance.

In the afternoon, defender Nicholas Mensah climbed off the bench to open the scoring for Legon Cities FC in the 60th minute, before poster boy Jonah Attuquaye also equalized in the 71st minute to wrap up a hard-fought win for the Royals.

While the victory does not immediately save Legon Cities FC from relegation, it has seen Great Olympics lose the top spot on the Ghana Premier League table to in-form Asante Kotoko.
