Former Asante Kotoko striker, Kwame Poku has admitted that he was not satisfied with his performance at the senior national team, the Black Stars.

Poku was handed a maiden Black Stars call up by Charles Akonnor for Ghana’s double 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Principe last month.

The 21-year-old started against the Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg with many expecting him to perform at his utmost.

Poku who has joined Algierien side, USM Alger was deployed at the left wings but could not last the entire game which irked both the Kotoko fans and football aficionados.

He was an unused substitute when Ghana trashed São Tomé 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to cement their 9th AFCON place in Cameroon next year.

“I wasn’t really satisfied with my performance with the Black Stars," he told Takoradi based Spice FM.

However, the important thing is we [Ghana]qualified,” Poku states.

Regarding future call ups, the former Nkoranza Warriors striker says he will be surprised if he is not given another shot at the Black Stars by CK Akonnor.

“I will be surprised if I don’t get invited again because I need more games to prove myself.” Kwame Poku added.

Kwame Poku scored 7 goals in 16 matches prior to leaving Asante Kotoko for USM Algers.

He signed a reported 4-year deal with the Algerian club.
