Former Ashgold striker Shafiu Mumuni has signed for Iraqi Premier League side Erbil SC, Sportsworldghana has reported.

According to reports, the former Black Stars B skipper has signed a one year deal with the club with an option of renewal at the end of the season.

The forward has been without a club since being released by Tunisian outfit Monastir in January this year and this move to Iraq offers him chance to be active.

He managed to score only one goal and provided one assist in his 7 game outings for US Monastir in all competitions.

Mumuni rose to prominence at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal, where he hit the first-ever hat-trick against Cote d’Ivoire in the semi-finals and netted four times to finish as the tournament's top scorer.

He was once a top transfer target for Asante Kotoko during his days at AshantiGold but opted to seek for greener pastures in North Africa.

Erbil SC are currently 12th on the Iraqi League log with 29 points from 26 games.
