The head coach for Asante Kotoko, Mariano Barreto has charged his players to have ‘warrior instincts’ as he anticipates tough opposition from all opponents in the Ghana Premier League.

The Portuguese tactician watched from the bench over the weekend when the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by Techiman Eleven Wonders on matchday 18 of the ongoing campaign.

Although the gaffer hoped for a win, he has taken the point in good faith and has set sight on picking three points in the team’s next match.

Ahead of a clash against Bechem United on Wednesday afternoon, Coach Mariano Barreto has opened up on what he wants from his players.

“I think they are getting the message and we are talking a lot about it. Especially if you don’t fight, if you don’t show warrior instinct, and killer instincts it will be difficult. Because for other clubs their biggest target is to beat the champions. This happens not only in Ghana.

“In any country, everybody wants to beat the champions. So we have to know that and the players have to feel it. So we cannot forget,” Mariano Barreto said in an interview with the media team of Asante Kotoko.

The clash against Bechem United will be played at the Len Clay Stadium tomorrow and will kick off at 15:00GMT.
