Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee GOC in his message to Ghana women on International Women's Day said the elderly must be revered and honoured.

He said two people who are most dear to him are his grandmother and mother, so she places elderly women very high in his heart.

He urged the youth to emulate people like Madam Theodocia Okoe who was not only a top sports official but also designed the national flag.

He expressed that superstars like Alice Annum, Hannah Afriyie and others should be celebrated so that the upcoming stars will also perform like them.

He inspired females in sports to be disciplined, determined and desire to go for the ultimate. He praised the athletes who excelled at the last African Games in Morocco and motivated them to train harder to perform better for the Olympic Games and the next African Games to be hosted in Ghana in 2023.

Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah tasked all women leaders connected to sports and recreation to offer their best as it is often a voluntary assignment.

He praised the managers and players of the Women's Premier League which had been exciting and the Tennis rising stars who have been active, as well as the medal prospect weightlifting girls who have been training seriously despite the Covid-19 pandemic halted many events.

The GOC President advised on compliance with the safety and health protocols, especially taking the vaccination, wearing of a mask, social distancing and regular washing of hands or using sanitisers.
