England-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Tariq Lamptey has suffered another injury setback and will not feature for Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Premier League this weekend.

The exciting full-back has been out of action since December 2020 as a result of a recurring hamstring injury that has required him to visit the treatment room to receive medical attention.

The youngster recently returned to training and was expected to be available for selection this weekend when Brighton lock horns with top-four side Leicester City.

Unfortunately, he has had a setback and according to his coach Graham Potter will not be fit to play for the Seagulls against the Foxes.

“Tariq won't be fit, he had a little setback this week and we need to get to the bottom of that.

"It's a problem with his hamstring. He's seeing a specialist and he's not available for the weekend,” Brighton manager Graham Potter said in a pre-match interview on Thursday.

Tariq Lamptey, 20, started the 2020/2021 English Premier League season in explosive form. His outstanding exploits attracted interest from Bayern Munich as well as Everton.

He is being tipped to become one of the top full-backs in the world if he continues to develop his game.
