Prolific Ghanaian striker, Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah has signed for Swiss Super League club FC Lugano in a move that sees the youngster taking his career to the next level.
In the last couple of years, the 23-year-old has been playing his football at SC Kriens in the Swiss Challenge League.
Having displayed outstanding form in the lower-tier league, the attacker attracted a lot of attention with multiple clubs in the top-flight league pushing to secure his service.
After successful negotiations, Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah has today signed a contract with FC Lugano to play for the side until the summer of 2023.
“FC Lugano announce that they have signed Portuguese striker Asumah Abubakar from Ghana with a contract valid until 30.06.2023 (with option for a further season),” an official club statement has announced.
During his stay at his last club, Asumah Abubakar made 47 appearances in the Swiss Challenge League where he netted 22 goals and provided 10 assists in the process.
He has naturalized for Portugal but remains eligible to play for the Ghana male senior national team.
