The head coach of Legon Cities FC, Bashir Hayford has stressed the Asamoah Gyan will be key for the side this season as he calls on fans to be patient for the top striker while he works on his fitness.

The Black Stars legend signed for the rebranded Wa All Stars club on transfer deadline day of the local transfer window to give the team a massive squad boost for the 2020/2021 season.

Having gained weight in the off-season, Asamoah Gyan has only managed to play 20 minutes in 3 matches and continues to work to get back into his best shape.

At a press conference in Accra on Friday, Coach Bashir Hayford has underlined the importance of the former Sunderland goal poacher to Legon Cities FC.

“I am happy to manage a great player like Asamoah Gyan. I picked him way back when I was selecting young talents for a tournament and to be honest, it's great to see him achieve all that he has done. He will be key for us going forward at this club,” the experienced tactical said at his unveiling today.

According to the former Asante Kotoko coach, Asamoah Gyan’s fitness level is not at its peak at the moment and fans should give him time to find his feet.
