President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt E.S Okraku has charged the Black Satellites players to fight to qualify the team for the next FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament.

Since 2009 when Ghana won the prestigious youth FIFA tournament in Egypt, there has been no real impact made at subsequent tournaments with the Satellites missing out on qualification a number of times as well.

This month, the Ghana U-20 male senior national team will feature at the WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations as part of a journey to secure qualification to play at the next FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Interacting with the team before they depart for Benin, Kurt Okraku has emphasized that the priority should be on the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

“Being at the U20 world cup is the ultimate vision of our country and you have the responsibility to take Ghana there. Ghana wants to be at the U20 world cup and to be competitive but before that, we need to conquer WAFU and conquer Africa,” the GFA president said as quoted on the website of the association.

At the WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations tournament, the Black Satellites will face their counterpart from Nigeria and Ivory Coast in Group B of the group phase.

The tournament will run from Saturday, December 5 to Sunday, December 19, 2020.
