The government will on Friday, December 4, 2020, commence the disbursement of a financial support package to Ghana Premier League clubs to mitigate the financial burden posed by the Coronavirus pandemic.
As a result of the global pandemic, the government is forcing clubs to play the new league season behind closed doors.
To ensure teams remain financially sound at a time where they are not making any money from gate proceeds, the government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports has decided to extend a helping hand.
At the end of fruitful talks between the Ghana League Clubs Association and the Sports Ministry last month, it was agreed that all 18 participating Premier League clubs will be given a sum of GHS100,000
According to Oyerepa FM, the first trench of GHS50,000 will be paid to the clubs by the close of tomorrow.
This is expected to give clubs a major financial boost to ensure they are able to cope with the difficulties caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
