Asante Kotoko on Sunday, November 29, 2020, drew 1-1 against FC Nouadhibou at the Stade Cheikha Boidiya Nouakchott in a clash in the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League.
The Ghana Premier League record holders have been drawn against the Mauritania Champions in the preliminary stage of this season’s top-tier continental inter-club competition.
Facing off with the opponent for the first meeting of a scheduled two-legged encounter today, Asante Kotoko displayed impressive form after having a very good start to the game.
The Kumasi-based club took the lead after just 5 minutes of play courtesy of a strike from young forward Osman Ibrahim after he had received a pass on the edge of the box from winger Emmanuel Gyamfi.
In a game where Asante Kotoko hoped to win, FC Nouadhibou fought back and scored from the penalty spot to ensure the match ends in a 1-1 draw at the end of the 90 minutes.
The stalemate is a good result for the Ghanaian giants who now prepare for the reverse fixture billed to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
