Ghana Premier League giants Ashanti Gold SC have been held to a goalless draw at the Len Clay Sports Stadium today during the team's preliminary round clash with Salitas FC.
The Miners started with confidence and tried to create problems for the opposition but they were unable to really test the goalkeeper in the first half.
Salitas came close to scoring from a corner before the first half ended but the ball came off the woodwork.
In the second half, Hans Kwofie's vicious effort came off the post, much to the pleasure of the visitors.
With no goals at the end of the 90 minutes, Salitas FC delightfully take the goalless draw knowing that they will have the advantage in the reverse fixture.
The Obuasi-based side will travel to Burkina Faso for the second leg in the coming days and will need to get a positive result or they will suffer early elimination from this season's CAF Confederations Cup competition.
