The head coach for the Black Queens of Ghana, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo says the upcoming friendly matches against Morocco are important for her team as they continue preparations for the qualifiers to the next Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) tournament.

The Ghana Senior Women’s national team will host their Moroccan counterparts in two international friendly games this week at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking to the communications team of the Ghana FA ahead of the matches, Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo says it important for her team to play such games following a long break from the sport as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Basically, this is about preparation towards our qualifiers early next year. We are gradually coming out of Covid-19 and it's good news having such a game at hand,” the coach said as quoted on the website of the GFA.

Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo continued, “After returning from Turkey, there were no football activities and now that the ban has been lifted, we are lucky to get this international friendly and it means a lot to us as a team.”

The friendly matches between Ghana and Morocco have been slated for Thursday, November 26, and Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
