Despite seeing his team lose 1-0 to Sudan on Tuesday, Ghana head coach CK Akonnor has given the assurance that the team will qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Black Stars visited the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman yesterday looking for a win to secure early qualification to the next edition of the continent’s flagship tournament.

Unfortunately, things could not go as planned with Sudan scoring late through a strike from Mohammed Abdul Rahman to emerge victorious.

Speaking in a post-match interview after the defeat, Ghana head coach CK Akonnor is not losing hope but says his team will put in the necessary effort in the remaining games of the qualifiers to ensure they play at the next AFCON.

“What I can say is we’ll learn from the mistakes we’ve made and of course in March we have two matches coming on.

“I strongly believe and I can assure Ghanaians that we’ll do our best to qualify,” the coach shared.

In the reaming matches of the qualifiers, Ghana will play against South Africa in an away fixture, before taking on Sao Tome and Principe at home.
