Cup of Nations Sudan Defeat Puts Pressure On Ghana In Qualifiers To 2021 AFCON
NOV 17, 2020 LISTEN

Following a 1-0 defeat against Sudan on Tuesday afternoon, pressure is now on Ghana to win its 2 remaining matches in the qualifiers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Drawn in Group C, the Black Stars are one of the favourites to secure qualification to the next edition of the AFCON tournament at the end of the qualifiers.

Having won all of their first 3 matches, Ghana went up against Sudan this afternoon looking for a win to book early qualification to the continent’s flagship tournament.

Following an unimpressive performance at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, the Black Stars have been defeated 1-0 at the end of the 90 minutes courtesy of a late equalizer from Sudan star man Mohammed Abdul Rahman.

With the latest setback denying Ghana the chance to secure early qualification, the team now needs to prepare for the remaining two matches and ensure they pick up maximum points to avoid any surprises from South Africa and Sudan that both have a good chance of qualifying.

In the next international break, Ghana will face off with the Bafana Bafana, before later playing host to Sao Tome and Principe.
